A MTV divulgou na tarde desta quinta-feira (30) os indicados ao VMA (Video Music Awards) 2020, mesmo com a pandemia o evento tradicional da cultura pop recebeu a autorização para acontecer no próximo dia 30 de agosto no Barclays Center em Nova York. A organização corre contra o tempo para fazer algo com qualidade seguindo todos os protocolos de segurança, uma das medidas anunciadas foi a redução do público presente que deverá ser substituído por plateia virtual.
Anteriormente o canal já havia divulgado os indicados à categoria Best New Artist (Melhor Artista Novo). Agora, estes somam-se as demais indicações. Entre os destaques do VMA deste ano, Lady Gaga que recentemente lançou o álbum Chromatica e The Weeknd, nome favorito para a temporada de prêmios. Os artistas latinos também foram lembrados, é o caso de Karol G que concorre em melhor colaboração musical com Nicki Minaj pelo hit Tusa e Rosalía que está na disputa em categorias técnicas.
